Lea Hutchins opened the meeting with a prayer at 7 pm. The meeting was held in the Great Hall.

Vestry Present: Lea Hutchins, Jessie Ventura, Becky Roberts, Larry Norfleet, Matt George, John Garton, Sue Breakie, Bill Hickman, Kathy Means, Tom Stevens, Seth Cosans and Sandy Lind.

Absent: None

Correction on the December minutes - gutters have not yet been repaired. Matt George moved; seconded by Lea Hutchins to accept the amended December minutes. Motion approved unanimously.

Tom Stevens offered the suggestion that the new secretary might be chosen outside of the current Vestry members - it’s hard to be a contributing vestry member and take accurate notes for the minutes. He asked members to think about possible candidates for a new secretary.

Carl Kuntz thanked the members of the Vestry - especially those going off this January. He said the Christmas celebrations went very well - especially the kids. There was good attendance for both services and also New Year’s day. Carl’s pastoral priorities mainly consist of visiting shut-in’s.

Reports to Lois by January 11 for the annual meeting. Adult education on Sunday’s will continue in January. Carl will be with us at St. Anne’s through Ash Wednesday. Carl has prepared a written resolution on same gender relationships for St. Anne’s. Jessie Ventura, Sue Breakie and Kathy Means will review and edit Carl’s document and have ready to present at next Vestry meeting.

Treasurer’s Report

December numbers are being prepared by Kathy Lyons and will be available later this week or early next week. Over $18,000 was taken in December with pledges (the monthly average is about $12,000). Larry Norfleet and Kathy Lyons are working together on several small suggestions from the auditors.

Personnel (Kathy Means)

Staff reorganization - Lois has not yet decided whether she will stay on part-time or leave her position. Tom Stevens gave Vestry members a list of potential parishioners that could make-up the transition committee (3-5 total people). Tom will also contact potential interim priest and set-up meeting with the Vestry next week.

Worship (Kathy Means)

Next worship committee meeting will discuss the concern of the 9:30 am service being too long. Christmas programs went well.

Church School (Lea Hutchins/John Garton)

The kids had a great time with the Christmas pageant. Some parents are complaining about Sunday school not starting on time (the 9:30 service runs over) and then Sunday school finished even later. Louise has a new adult education schedule starting in January. John mentioned that there are some issues with Sunday school - teachers, kids and parents.

Property/OSA’s

We incurred a $600 expense to have bats removed from the rectory in December. Jessie Ventura moved; seconded by Sue Breakie to approve spending $700 for fence supplies (between Great Hall and Smokey’s). Motion approved unanimously. Volunteers from the church will provide labor to install the fence. Matt has been getting bids from cleaning companies. One company has proposed weekly cleanings for $8,200 annually or bi-monthly cleanings for $4,200 annually. Also, several parishioners have approached Matt about volunteering their time. It was suggested that maybe we combine the bi-monthly service with church volunteers. Matt will be getting a second bid also.

Three new Vestry candidates have been secured - Maureen White, John Garton and Nancy Koenig. Matt is still searching for a fourth member prior to the annual meeting.

Kathy Means moved; seconded by Lea Hutchins to approve that St. Anne’s will pay delegate and alternates registration for the DE convention. Motion approved unanimously.

Stewardship (Seth Cosans)

The stewardship committee is currently reviewing the list of parishioners that pledged in 2011, but not yet in 2012.

It was decided to wait and schedule the Vestry retreat after we have named our new interim.
