Kathy Means opened the meeting with a prayer at 7 pm. The meeting was held in the Great Hall.

 

Vestry Present: Tom Stevens, Bill Hickman, Lea Hutchins, Jesse Ventura, Larry Norfleet, Sue Breakie, Matt George, Kathy Means, John Garton and Sandy Lind. Absent: Becky Roberts and Seth Cosans.

 

Treasurer’s Report

  • members of the finance committee met with the auditor. Waiting to receive the complete audit report.
  • members of the finance committee are very pleased with the work of the auditor.
  • capital campaign collections   $29,355
  • pledges YTD   $97,899
  • pledge forecast   $109,385
  • will begin work on cash flow projections.
  • Larry will have Kathy write check for Episcopal Relief Development Fund (in Mother Jo Ann’s honor) for $300

Kathy Means moved: seconded by Jesse Ventura, to approve the minutes from the August Vestry meeting. Motion passed unanimously.

 

Worship Committee (Kathy Means)

  • supply priests are set for September.
  • Carl Kuntz will begin October 2.
  • maybe will start adult education in mid-October.
  • Carl will also counsel, do weddings, baptisms, etc.

Church School (Lea Hutchins/John Garton)

  • we now have leaders for all 3 youth groups.
  • training for leaders will be Sept 17 in DC.
  • youth will participate in the “mud run” on September 25.
  • all leaders are registered for safe church training October 1.
  • September 18 will be registration for Sunday school.
  • Atrium 1 & 2 (Catechesis).
  • we may still need use of the trailers.
  • Nadine Burton believes she’ll have 12 children in Sunday school.
  • we’ve had water problems downstairs since hurricane Irene. Also mold problem.
  • 2 rooms downstairs will be painted this week-end.

Each Vestry liaison should speak with their committee member about their getting their 2012 budget to Larry in the October/November timeframe.

 

Property (Matt George)

  • their meeting will be in late September.
  • could we rent out the trailors to others? Probably can’t because there are no restrooms with them.
  • suggest that we don’t clutter the cafe area - it doesn’t look good to visitors.

 Outreach (Jesse Ventura)

  • Grace George will again manage Thanksgiving dinner to the MOT community.
  • girl scout troop to begin meeting at the church.
  • Jesse has been speaking to people from “our daily bread” (start-up soup kitchen), they are interested in using our facility. More info to follow next month.

 It was suggested that we close-out the capital campaign prior to Celebration Sunday.
