The senior warden, Tom Stevens, opened with a prayer at 7 pm. The meeting was held in the Great Hall.

Vestry Present: Tom Stevens, Matt George, Lea Hutchins, Jessie Ventura, Becky Roberts, Bill Hickman, Larry Norfleet, Kathy Means, Sue Breakie, Seth Cosans and Sandy Lind. Absent: John Garton.

Rachel Mandes spoke about the two red maples that have been put in the front beds at the town church. They were donated by Rachel Mandes, Kathy Means (and several others that attend the 8 am service). They wanted the front of the town church to be welcoming and bring people in.

Rachel asked the Vestry why we continued to pay monthly rent on the trailers, when they were no longer being used? Jessie explained that they are still being used and that the Vestry has had numerous discussions about the fate of the trailers. Much discussion ensued.

The worship committee (represented by Chris Myers, Ginny Wingate and Nancy Koenig presented their options for having two services starting in September.

  • 8 am and 9:30 am services (with Sunday school/ adult education after the second service).
  • 8 am and 10:15 am (with Sunday school/ adult education at 9 am).

The second service will have some aspects of the former Contact service. It was also suggested that the service bulletin for the second service have everything written in the bulletin (so it’s more user/visitor friendly). Kathy Means made a motion, seconded by Larry Norfleet, to accept the option of two services at 8 and 9:30 am, with Sunday school/ adult education to follow the 9:30 am service. The motion passed unanimously.
