Vestry Meeting, May 4, 2011

 

The Reverend Dr. Jo Ann Barker opened with a prayer at 7 pm. The meeting was held in the Great Hall.

 

Vestry Present: Mother Jo Ann, Becky Roberts, Tom Stevens, Jessie Ventura, Lea Hutchins, Seth Cosans, Larry Norfleet, John Garton, Matt George, Kathy Means and Sandy Lind.

 

Absent: Bill Hickman and Sue Breakie.

 

Tom Stevens moved: seconded by Larry Norfleet, to approve the revised minutes from the April 6, 2011, Vestry meeting. Motion passed unanimously.

 

Treasurer’s Report

  • ytd collections for the capital campaign are $28,300.
  • diocese has matched $10,000.
  • ytd pledges are $54,262 (close to forecast).
  • the finance committee had a successful meeting in April with potential auditor candidates. Kathy Lyons did a very good job.
  • finance committee will review the proposals and bring their recommendation to the next Vestry meeting.

Tom Stevens moved: seconded by Lea Hutchins, to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion passed unanimously.

 

Sr. Warden’s Report

  • discussed capital campaign strategy (from Tom’s handout). Strategy includes personal appeal to potential large contributors, updates given by Vestry members at church services, fundraising thermometers in vestibule and cafe, recognition of contributors with personal letters (Mother Jo Ann) and update in May messenger.
  • Kate Rokosz will manage St. Anne’s float for the upcoming Middletown celebration in June.

 Jr. Warden’s Report

  • A/C has been tested. We are awaiting final MOT inspection.
  • there is very little hot water in the church kitchen. Proposal to follow.
  • we are re-evaluating our church cleaning services.
  • still discussing getting rid of the trailers.

Youth Report given by Lea Hutchins

  • she recommends that the Vestry wait until September to make their final decision on the trailers (until we know the numbers of kids that will attend).
  • hand written notes are being sent to prospective kids and their parents.
  • the auction raised around $6,000.
  • need men leaders for RT 13 and J2A.

 Old Drawyer’s 300th celebration will be June 5. They would like St. Anne’s to have a table there with our new book. Lea will speak with Pete Hall.

 

The meeting was closed with a prayer at 8:40 pm.
